Some people consider massage therapy a luxury. Or, believe that massage is just for relaxation. Massage can be an affordable way to improve your health.  This article will discuss the various types of massage and their associated benefits.

Therapeutic Massage

Therapeutic massage, also known as Swedish massage, is the most common type of massage therapy. The therapist uses gentle soft tissue techniques to relax muscles. The therapist can also use deep tissue techniques to break up scar tissue from tight muscles or help relieve pain from sports injuries. Massage therapists often use Swedish massage and deep tissue massage as part of a rehabilitation program.

Thai Massage

When you are looking for a massage to energize you, you may try Thai massage. The therapist uses soft tissue techniques, along with stretches and movements to improve joint mobility.

Hot Stone Massage

If you enjoy hot saunas or baths, you may enjoy a hot stone massage. The therapist places special heated stones over the body and around joints, and light massage techniques to improve range of motion and to relax tight muscles.

Relaxation Massage

This type of relaxation massage often involves the use of essential oils. It is also called aromatherapy massage. Oils such as lavender, peppermint, and chamomile are selected to help relax, and de-stress muscles. Massage therapists may use essential oils with the other types of massage at your request.
