Former Road Manager Of Vybz Kartel Gunned Down

KINGSTON, Jamaica CMC – Jamaica police are investigating whether or not the recent posting on a social website criticizing dancehall artistes may have led to the murder of the former road manager of dancehall artiste, Vybz Kartel, who is in prison awaiting trial on gun related charges.

Police said that popular dancehall producer, Patrick Samuels, was gunned down as he left a party on Sunday.

The Constabulary Communication Network, said “Roach” as he was popularly known, left the party to respond to a phone call, when he was attacked and shot multiple times. He died later at hospital.

The Jamaica Observer newspaper, Monday, reported that it was not “clear” whether Samuels may have been targeted for a recent Youtube post in which he “lambasted at least one other producer and a string of dancehall artistes for being ‘poison’ to the multi-billion dollar music industry”,

The paper quoted investigators as saying that they were probing all leads.

After working with Vybz Kartel, Samuels produced dancehall projects such as the “Overtime Riddim”, which features the hit song “Settle Down” by Mavado, a long standing musical rival of Vybz Kartel.
