Warden Woods Community Centre Honours Veterans From Around The World With A Free Lunch

SCARBOROUGH, ON – Warden Woods Community Centre Friendship Club and I.R.I.E. Program are proud to honour our veterans from around the world with a memorable event called “We Will Not Forget”.

On Wednesday, November 13, 2013, two staple programs for seniors in the southwest Scarborough area will come together to profile, educate and reflect with veterans from Jamaica, Guyana and the historic Second World War. The event will take place at Warden Woods Community Centre at 74 Firvalley Court and as a token of thanks, a free lunch will be provided to all veterans with a valid K-Number.

The Friendship Club is a weekly older adult and seniors program that builds bonds through social activities for the mind, body and soul. The I.R.I.E. Program is a Caribbean and West Indian weekly social program for older adults and seniors to build relationships through activities that preserve the culture. It was important to combine the two programs for such a monumental event to provide education and awareness to all about the individuals that have left their place of origin to become a Canadian Veteran and dedicate their time to speak to children, adults and seniors about their experiences.

The “We Will Not Forget” Remembrance Day Luncheon promises to be a heartfelt salute to those who serve or have served their countries in uniform.
