Trinidad And Barbados Shaken By Tremor

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad CMC – Barbados was shaken twice within a 24 hour period by earthquakes that also affected Trinidad and Tobago, the Seismic Unit of the University of the West Indies has reported.

It said that on Monday, earthquakes occurred north of Trinidad and Barbados respectively, during the period 12:15 and 6:00 am (local time).

The Unit said both magnitudes were 3.6 and depths 56km and 27km respectively and that they may have been felt in nearby islands.

On Sunday morning, Barbados was shaken by an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.8 with a depth of 66 km.

The Seismic Unit said that this quake occurred at around 3.32 am (local time) south of the island and may have also been felt in neighbouring islands.
