T&T State Witness Among Two Killed

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad CMC – The body of a 51-year old State’s witness was discovered Monday hours before he was due to have testified in a murder case.

Police said Ricaldo Sanchez, a part-time electrician, had gone missing on Saturday night after he attended a party.

The father of four was due to testify in the Siparia Magistrates Court against fellow villager, Fermin Carrabai, who is accused of murdering 30-year-old Chakumba-Muraldo on December 28, 2010.

Police are also investigating the 26th murder so far this year, after a 32-year-old mother was gunned down outside her home on Sunday night.

Police said that Abigail Persad had pulled up to the gate of her home at Maturita Village, in Arima, east of here, when a gunman dressed in black clothing approached the car. As she exited the car, the woman was shot several times about the body. Her husband rushed her to the Arima Health Facility where she was pronounced dead.
