Martial Arts Instructor Detained On Sodomising Students

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad CMC – Police have detained for questioning, a 50-year-old martial arts instructor, after three students alleged they had been sodomised by him during training sessions at two locations, earlier this year.

Police said the un-named instructor was arrested at his home on Monday, after a month-long investigation.

The youngest of the alleged victims is 14 years old.

Police said they were told that the alleged incidents occurred in May and that school officials were told the students were to be trained at a park, but were instead taken to the man’s home and another place. The training sessions were done individually and the boys were asked to read from spiritual books and chant as part of their spiritual development.

The matter was reported by the principal, who took the boys to the police.

Police said the martial arts instructor had previously been charged 10 years ago with similar offences at another school.

The matters were taken to court, but the victims refused to testify and the cases were dismissed.
