Bolivia Plans To Expand Trade With The Caribbean

LA PAZ, Bolivia, CMC – Bolivia plans to increase its trade relations with Central America and the Caribbean in the framework of the agreements of the Latin American Integration Association (Aladi).

“We are developing contacts with countries in the region, considering it is an interesting market,” said Clarems Endara, Bolivia’s Vice Minister of Foreign Trade and Integration of the State, at a recent press conference. “We are headed to sign agreements through Aladi.”

According to Cuban news agency, Prenas Latina, Endara said in order to take advantage of the 6,000 tariff lines the country has opened, Bolivia should export a number of products from sectors, such as agriculture and mining, without excluding other areas.

“We need to focus on what products we can give a higher added value and place them in markets which are obviously very specific.”

He said there are measures in place that basically require the use of the market to increase exports.
