Spring Is In The Air, Unmask A Fresh Face

There is no better time than now, to unmask a fresh face, and there is no easier way to do it but with a professional facial from your aesthetician.

The Canadian winter over the past two years has gotten harsher and even longer. Those of us who would like to age gracefully must sit up and take notice.  If you do not have one it is a good time to seek out the service of a professional aesthetician with knowledge in caring for black skin.

Home Care

The alternate is to do it yourself at home with products that compliment your skin type. Please bear in mind that black skin other than” red heads” is one of the most sensitive skin type on planet earth. It ages gracefully when good attention is paid to it, but if not a host of problems can present themselves.  When these problems occur it can be time consuming and costly to treat. When choosing products, choose products that do what they promise to do.

A Cleanser should clean the skin, an astringent or toner should return the skin to its natural Ph balance, reduce oil production, remove any trace of cleanser left on the skin after cleansing, and prepare skin for application of a moisturizer or other treatment products.

Your scrub should be one with grains that are rounded and do not scratch the skin leaving microscopic laceration, which will show up as small areas of hypperpigmentation or discoloration of the skin. A night cream should not be heavy so your face sticks to the pillow but light and easily penetrate the upper layers of the skin. Night creams work best  at sleep time, when the body is at a low metabolic rate.

Treatment Products:

Eye Gels and Creams

An eye gel should also be an intricate part of your daily routine.  The skin on the eye area is very thin and become stretched easily, and particularly for those of us who use a computer daily, eye care is very essential.

The skin underneath the eyes can become swollen, puffy and quite noticeable in the morning, after a not so good night sleep. The puffiness stretches the delicate skin on the eye area, and after a period, can be likened to an elastic band that does not recoil after too many periods of stretching. This generally results in what is likened to racoon eyes.

When purchasing an eye cream, look for one in a gel form.  When an eye treatment in the form of a cream is applied close to bed time, the cream can run into the eyes when the body is warmed up causing your eyes to appear red in the morning.

The gel sets immediately on application to the eye area. Prevention is key when it comes to eye treatment, because it is difficult and dangerous to apply certain creams and potions to the delicate eye areas.

Masks

Masks come in many forms. Cream; Powder; Gel; Peel off; Hot and Cryogenic.  Masks are formulated to perform different functions, and it is generally not difficult to find a mask to suit a specific skin type. Masks help aid in the removal of dead surface cells from the skin , stimulate circulation, hydrate, soften, tone and firm the skin, leaving it clean, soft and smooth.

Serums

Serums are the key to keeping fine lines and wrinkles at bay.  Serums have low molecular structures which help them to penetrate the epidermal layer of the skin rapidly. Serums should be use continuously over a period of four to 12 weeks for results to be noticed.

Serums are generally quite expensive, but if the formula is good it is worth the cost. Look for serums with high levels of peptides in their formulation.

The better the grade of peptides, the more expensive the serum will be. However don’t confuse price with the cost of the packaging. Often times you are paying more for the packaging, than for what is inside your bottle or jar.
