Dominica Prime Minister To Receive Honorary Doctorate From Indian University

ROSEAU, Dominica, Feb 18, 2016 (CMC) – The Lovely Professional University in Punjab, India, will bestow an honorary degree on Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit of Dominica, next week, when he addresses the university’s commencement ceremony.

A statement from the Office of the Prime Minister says, Skerrit was selected as “Chief Guest of the Convocation, because of what Chancellor Ashok Mittal described as, his “enormous global impact”; being among the youngest, yet longest serving leaders in the democratic world today.”

The Doctor of Literature Honorius Causa will be conferred on Skerrit “in tribute to this distinguished record,” the statement said.

Lovely University “is the largest single campus university in India. It has a student enrollment in excess of 30‎,000, with a faculty of almost 4,000, and offers more than 200 academic degree programs.”

From India, the Prime Minister is expected to go Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, “where he will meet with current and future investors, particularly those associated with several infrastructural projects earmarked to start in Dominica i‎n the weeks and months ahead.”

During his absence, Justina Charles, Minister of Youth, Sports, and Culture, will act as Prime Minister.
