GEORGETOWN, Guyana, Mar 15, (CMC) – The Guyana government says, it will sign a US$50 million agreement with India to expand the road network in East Demerara.
A statement from the Ministry of Finance said, that Finance Minister, Winston Jordan, will, on Wednesday, sign the agreement with EximBank of India for the construction of a road to link the East Coast and East Bank Demerara.
The project was first conceived in 2015 when then President Donald Ramotar visited India and Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, announced the US$50 million line of credit for the construction of the road.
Jordan said, the new road network is aimed at “creating an alternative access route to these densely populated areas, expanding business opportunities and opening new lands for housing development”.
