One Killed, Four Injured, As Gunman Shoots Indiscriminately In St. Lucia’s Capital

CASTRIES, St. Lucia, May 29, 2018 (CMC) – At least one person was shot and killed and four others, including a school child, injured, after a gunman went on a shooting spree in the heart of the capital today.

Police have not yet released details of the incident that occurred a short distance from a court building, but the gunman is reported to have been wounded in the leg by a police officer, responding to the shooting.

Eyewitnesses said that the masked gunman started firing indiscriminately, causing people to flee in panic.

“This is crazy. He had two guns,” the eyewitness told local media.

Police have mounted a heavy presence in the area.
