Rest In Peace Eunice Quash-Branch

ONTARIO, September 18, 2018 — Born on August 31, 1963, Eunice Quash-Branch, daughter of the late Alphonso and Daisy Quash, “went to be with her God”, on September 11, at the age of 55, after a lengthy fight with cancer.

“Her kindness, generosity, and love will be missed by family and an extensive network of friends,” said Quash-Branch’s family in a statement released to Pride News Magazine.

She leaves behind, missing her dearly: daughter, Eboni Branch; brother, Harold; sister, Pearl; niece; Lurel; uncles — Glenroy (Ann) Roberts in Canada, Soltero McEachrane in Trinidad and Tobago, Curtis Cornwall in England, Clifford (Jacqueline) and Leon Cornwall in Grenada; and many cousins, relatives and friends around the globe, including Christine (Martin) Gilbert in Grenada; Doreen (John) Volk in Canada; Cynthia James in Tobago; Victor McSween and family; Jerry Grant; Joy and Chiron Thompson and family; the Cornwall family in Grenada, Canada, the USA and UK; the Quash family in Trinidad & Tobago; the Branch family; the Fletcher family; the Akinkuotu family; the Neptune family; Redhead family; Callendar family; James family; Walls family; and the Fischhoff family.

She is also being mourned by her beloved godchildren: Shereen, Thea, Joel, Brandon, Kimmy, Kristoff, Shefon, Princess and Peter, and members of the Faith Baptist Church in Oakville, the Oakwood Baptist Church in Toronto, and the Berean Bible Church in Grenada.

Eunice’s approach was founded on giving back, according to her family. She worked at Sunrise Senior Living in Burlington and the Sexual Assault & Violence Intervention Services of Halton (SAVIS). She selflessly volunteered and gave to her community by volunteering at: the Parent Child Centre Oakville; Intercede for the Rights of Domestic Workers, Caregivers and Newcomers in Toronto; Acclaim Health Tele-touch phone line; and Appleby College.

She was also a foster parent for the Halton Children’s Aid Society.

Extremely passionate about music, Eunice was a pianist and worship leader at the Faith Baptist Church in Oakville, and taught piano in Grenada and Canada, for over 30 years.

“She adored each piano student and appreciated the opportunity to pass on her gift, something that her father taught her – always pass on to your students. Eunice was ‘paying it forward’, before the phrase was even coined,” the family revealed in its statement.

Eunice’s greatest joy, however, was parenting her daughter, Eboni, who she enjoyed spending quality time with, right up until her final days. Over the years, they created many special memories together — memories that the family said, will sustain Eboni for years to come.

Her faith and commitment to health, allowed Eunice to extend her life journey for several years, past the initial diagnosis of cancer. One of her favourite Bible verses was 1 Thessalonians 5:18, “In everything, give thanks…”

When asked once, Eunice said she would like her life and legacy to be known as: “Eunice lived a life that was very thankful for the many blessings she experienced, and she cherished her relationship with Jesus, as she served God and others”.

The family extends a special thank you and gratitude to the following physicians, who were Eunice’s primary caregivers over the years: Dr. Kris Martiniuk, Dr. Conrad Sichler, Dr. Chris Mongiardi, Dr. Sanjay Pandeya and Dr. Jackie Colero ND.

They expressed appreciation to “those who showed their care in so many ways during Eunice’s final days, and also to the palliative care doctors at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, who graciously cared for Eunice in her last few months: Dr. Tarek Kazem; Dr. Greg Jeffries; Yolanda and all the outstanding nurses, and hospital staff.

Eunice Quash-Branch’s Visitation and Celebration of Life will be held at the Clearview Christian Reformed Church in Oakville, at 2300 Sheridan Garden Drive, Oakville, on Saturday, September 22 — Visitation from 9:30 to 11:00 am and Celebration of Life at 11:15 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family said “donations will graciously be accepted and divided for Eunice’s favourite charitable organizations”.

“Eunice’s compassion, loyal friendship, infectious smile, gentleness, humble spirit and musical gifts will be missed by all who have interacted with her over the years,” the family statement concluded.
