Antiguan Police Officer Arrested In Death Of Jamaican National

ST. JOHN’S, Antigua and Barbuda, February 27, 2019 (CMC) – A police officer is being questioned, in connection with the murder of a 25-year-old Jamaican woman, after an autopsy showed that she had been strangled.

Police had initially believed that Nicoma MacFarlane, who had moved to Antigua and Barbuda in August, last year, had committed suicide on February 7, after she had earlier posted several “worrying” messages on social media.

The police officer, who has been on suspension for an unrelated matter, was arrested, hours after the autopsy results were disclosed to the police, yesterday.

Media reports said that the body of the Jamaican national had been found with the left wrist slit, in two places, and an empty Clorox bottle, which her mother reportedly left in the bathroom that morning, on the dining room table, next to a razor.

The mother found the daughter bleeding and slumped in a chair, on her return from work, on February 7.

The woman was rushed to hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
