PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad and Tobago, March 28, 2019 (CMC) – A senior police officer has been placed on a half-million dollar bail, after he appeared in magistrate’s court, charged with abduction, false imprisonment and three sexual offences against a 16-year-old mother.
Police inspector, Christopher Fuentes, 55, a 35-year veteran, who was on pre-retirement leave, appeared in the Sangre Grande Magistrates’ Court, north-east of here, today, following an offence that occurred on March 15, this year.
The senior police officer was arrested, last week, after he reported that his police-issued pistol, loaded with 14 rounds of ammunition; a wallet; and a gold chain were stolen.
The senior officer alleged that the 16-year-old girl stole the items from his Sangre Grande home on March 15.
Another police officer, acting-Corporal, Dindial Joseph, also appeared in court, charged with sexual touching, and was granted TT$80,000 bail.
They will return to court on September 11.
Police also charged the 16-year-old girl with larceny of Fuentes’ police-issued firearm that was loaded with 14 rounds of ammunition, a wallet and a gold chain.
She was taken before the Children’s Court in Port of Spain and will return to court on April 8.
