Jamaican Police Probing Incidents Involving Children

KINGSTON, Jamaica, January 31, 2020 (CMC) – The body of an 11-year-old school boy, who had been reported missing on Wednesday, has been found.

The authorities said that the body of Mark Leslie, a student of the Mannings Hill Primary School, in St. Andrew, southeast of here, was found earlier today.

The student, last seen at home, was wearing a white shirt, red-and-white tie, brown pants and a pair of black sneakers.

He is the second child to have died under tragic circumstances this week.

Yesterday, the police confirmed that the body of 10-year-old Rojun Brown, a student of Retirement Primary, in St. Ann, on the north coast, was found in a pond. He had been reported missing, Wednesday, after returning from school.

Meanwhile, the police said that the suspect, who was being sought in connection with the machete attack on two children at their home, in Old Harbour, St. Catherine, south east of here, on Tuesday night, has been detained.

They said he surrendered to the St. Catherine South Police and is being questioned, in connection with the chopping of two sisters, 11 and 13-years-old, who have since been hospitalised in serious condition.

Media reports said that residents set fire to the house of the suspect’s sister.
