Canadian Married Couple Drown In Trinidad

TOCO, Trinidad and Tobago, March 2, 2020 (CMC) – Search and rescue teams have recovered the bodies of a 34-year-old man, and his wife, after they drowned at a beach in Toco, situated in the most north-easterly village of Trinidad, on Sunday.

The Canada-based, Trinidad-born couple — David Francis, 34, and his wife, Jessica, 33 — were married three months ago, and had returned to the island to participate in the Carnival celebrations that ended, last week Tuesday.

Police said the couple, accompanied by a group of friends, had gone to the beach, when Jessica got into difficulty. Her husband attempted to save her, but both disappeared in the rough waters.

The Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard recovered the woman’s body, late Sunday evening, and her husband’s body was discovered, this afternoon.
