Guyana’s Labour Ministry Providing Training To Ensure Skilled Workforce, Says Minister Hamilton

UPPER DEMERARA-BERBICE, Guyana (Tuesday, October 20, 2020) — The Ministry of Labour will be implementing training across the country, to ensure there is a skilled workforce in every region, announced Minister Joseph Hamilton, during an outreach to Upper Demerara-Berbice (Region 10), last Saturday.

The Minister relayed that he will be engaging all Regional Democratic Councils (RDCs) and town councils to outline plans for sustainable jobs, which will boost the economy.

Minister Hamilton explained that everyone can participate in the training, noting “All of our plans and programs will be done equally, whether people live on the coast, riverside or in the valleys; they will have an opportunity to participate. No one will be excluded from the programmes we will set out to do.”

Training has already started in some regions, in collaboration with the Board of Industrial Training.

Last week’s visit to Region Ten was Minister Hamilton’s fourth such meeting. He has also engaged the regional administrations of Regions One, Three and Nine.
