Guyana Government Issues COVID-19 Guidelines For November; Curfew Adjusted

GEORGETOWN, Guyana (Friday, October 30, 2020) — The government has issued its COVID-19 Emergency Measures for November, adjusting the curfew hours to run from 10.30pm to 4 am.

The Orders, gazetted today, become effective from Sunday November 1 and run until Monday, November 30.

During Friday’s COVID-19 Update, Minister of Health, Dr. Frank Anthony, said persons have, largely, been observing the measures, however, there are still some challenges with gatherings.

“I think we have seen improvements, and with Operation COVI-CURB, we have seen more people wearing masks, but we need to take that up to 90, to 100 percent. So, we need to keep working on this, and we need everybody to be involved in complying with mask wearing,” he said.

The Health Ministry is reminding citizens that, during the lockdown hours, they are to remain indoors and in their own yard spaces, and to practice social distancing when in public spaces.

They are also being reminded that wearing masks in public is mandatory.
