More Transit For What Matters Most To You

Metrolinx is creating better, faster and more affordable public transit to connect you to the places, experiences, and people that matter most. This means better access to jobs, schools and shopping. And more opportunities to enjoy your favourite attractions, concerts, sports and cultural events with family and friends. When transit comes in, the possibilities are endless.

Creating more possibilities in your community
Metrolinx’s vision to connect communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe is about more than transit. It’s about people and possibilities. It’s creating more seamless connections to the places you want to go, when you need to go there. Real progress is being made on priority projects across the region.

The Ontario Line will make getting across Toronto a quick 30-minute ride. This 15-stop subway will run from Exhibition Place, through the heart of downtown, to the Ontario Science Centre – connecting you to jobs, shopping hotspots and food destinations. You’ll be able to experience the melting pot of Toronto’s many cultures with direct access to neighbourhoods across the city, including Greektown, Little India, Chinatown, the Distillery District and St. Lawrence Market.

The Scarborough Subway Extension will give you a fast and dependable ride to essential services such as the Scarborough General Hospital, Civic Centre and Library, and Scarborough Town Centre – all along a 7.8 km line that will extend the speed and convenience of subway access to and from downtown. The new extension will benefit students, linking them to Centennial College and the University of Toronto’s Scarborough Campus. Riders will be able to hop on the Crosstown LRT or the Stouffville GO line at an upgraded Kennedy Station to go even farther.

The Eglinton Crosstown West Extension takes you from Etobicoke to Mississauga in a matter of minutes along a seven-station 9.2 km line. Riders can connect to their MiWay bus, GO train or bus to go even farther. This is good news for commutes to the office in midtown or downtown and for those living downtown, who will have a quicker ride to enjoy the variety of Mississauga’s food, culture and entertainment options. Plus, the extension will offer a transfer to the Kitchener GO line, allowing easy access to a huge tech hub.

The Yonge North Subway Extension will make the journey between Toronto and York Region easier than ever, and give you back more time in your day. The extension will feature five new stations along the 8 km line. Those living close to the subway extension will be conveniently connected to all the ethnic food options in the Richmond Hill area, while having easy and direct access to downtown and other corporate hubs.

1pdfGO Expansion will bring Metrolinx’s vision of a connected region to every community across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. You can look forward to faster trains, more stations and three times more service. This means freeing your schedule to travel when you need to. Faster and more efficient trips will be enabled by a fleet running on electricity, and new stations will be opening in Toronto at King-Liberty, St. Clair-Old Weston, Bloor-Lansdowne, Mount Dennis, Woodbine, Caledonia, and Finch-Kennedy.
