Body Found At Foot Of Kaieteur Falls Is That Of Missing Woman

GEORGETOWN, Guyana CMC — Security will be strengthened security around Kaieteur Falls, following reports that the body found at the bottom of the tourist attraction, has been identified as that of Gyaneshwarie Sivanand, the woman who went missing two weeks ago.

According to Demerara Waves online, the park has been closed temporarily and police and soldiers are scheduled to retrieve the body on Sunday afternoon.

Sivanand was one of nine persons on an Air Services Limited organized tour of the Kaieterur National Park on September 1, when she went missing before the end of the two hour visit.

An eight day search by police, soldiers, park rangers and others turned up empty handed and the operation was downgraded onSeptember 9 to a look out for the woman or any of her belongings.

Stakeholder and agencies in government in the private sector have also agreed to the possible erection of rails around certain areas of the falls.
