Man Refused Bail After Allegedly Conning Several People With Promises Of Jobs

KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, September 14, 2016 (CMC) – A 31-year-old man, who police said conned several people into giving him money and promising them employment within the cruise industry, was denied bail when he appeared in the Serious Offences Court, yesterday.

Tedroy McCree, was not required to plead to the 40 indictable charges, and the prosecution argued against bail on the grounds that he may interfere with potential witnesses and hamper the ongoing investigation.

The court heard that McCree was paid money ranging from EC$50 to EC$850 (One EC dollars =US$0.37 cents) during the period January 31 to August 1, this year, by people, whom he said he could secure jobs for, on cruise ships.

McCree will return to court next week for another bail hearing.
