Chinese Businessmen Seeking To Invest In Trinidad And Tobago

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad and Tobago, May 17, 2018 (CMC) – A group of young Chinese businessmen are hoping to invest in the twin-island republic in several areas, including finance, real estate development, artificial intelligence and manufacturing robotics.

This was the outcome of a meeting between Prime Minister, Dr. Keith Rowley, and the businessmen, as he continued his official visit to China on Thursday.

The Prime Minister thanked the businessmen for their interest in investing, directly in Trinidad and Tobago, and encouraged them to explore the opportunities available.

Rowley, is leading a five-member delegation to China that includes Foreign Affairs Minister, Dennis Moses.

China and Trinidad and Tobago have been working on a number of initiatives in various areas including, finance, tourism, construction and the airline industries, and towards mutual benefits, associated with Chinese President Xi Jinping’s One Belt and One Road initiative.

Rowley and Moses are also scheduled to travel to Australia for a working visit, at the invitation of the Australian Prime Minister, Julia Eileen Gillard.

The discussions in Australia will focus on national security issues, possible financing arrangements and the possibility of purchasing ferries for the sea bridge between Trinidad and Tobago.

The delegation is expected to visit Perth, Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney in Australia, before returning to Trinidad.
