Jamaica Police’s Operation Resilience Nets Illegal Weapons And More Than 170 Suspects

KINGSTON, Jamaica CMC – Jamaica police have seized 77 illegal firearms and arrested more than 150 people last month under Operation Resilience that targets criminal gangs across the country.

The police said that this is the highest number of firearm seizures since June 2010. They said so far this year, 601 illegal firearms have been confiscated as compared to the same period last year when 500 illegal weapons were seized.

The authorities said that in the majority of the operations resulting in the gun seizure, there was no fatality, injury or harm to anyone.

The police said that of the 174 person arrested, many were wanted for murders, shootings and other serious crimes.
