Jamaica Environmental Agency Investigating Oil Spill In Kingston Harbour

KINGSTON, Jamaica, November 25, 2016 (CMC) – The National Environmental and Planning Agency (NEPA) is investigating reports of an oil spill in Kingston Harbour.

In a release, today, NEPA said preliminary reports indicate that the spill occurred, on Thursday afternoon, in the vicinity of Gordon Cay.

The clean up exercise is being undertaken by the Jamaica Defense Force (JDF), Coast Guard and is being coordinated by the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM).

NEPA has advised fishermen and other marine interests to avoid Gordon Cay and surrounding areas until the all clear is given.
