NY-based Caribbean Bakery Recalls Patties

NEW YORK, USA, CMC – Over six thousand cases of shrimp and soya patties from the Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery and Grill are being recalled due to an undeclared egg allergen.

According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) the patties were distributed to Golden Krust stores in the northeastern United States  – including the states of Florida and Georgia.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that products containing eggs were distributed in packaging that did not reveal the contents.

“Consumers with known egg allergies who have any remaining aforementioned product with the expiry dates listed should not consume it, but rather discard it,” the statement noted.

It added that persons who have allergies or severe sensitivity to eggs run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if the patties are consumed.

The product cases are marked on the side with the expiration dates Jan. 24, 2015, through Feb. 26, 2016.

However Golden Krust says to date there have  been no reports of adverse reactions connected to the patties.
