Father And Daughter Among Six Killed In Jamaica During 24-Hour Period

KINGSTON, Jamaica, February 28, 2020 (CMC) – Jamaica police said a father, and his 18-year-old daughter, were among six people killed, during a 24 hour period in the country.

They said that 49-year-old security guard, Vanley Kerr and his daughter, Brianna, were shot dead, on Tuesday night, in Good Hope in Negril, Westmoreland, the westernmost parish on the island.

Police explained that the two were at a business establishment, when men entered the building and shot them.

They were pronounced dead at hospital. No motives have been given for the killings.

Police are also probing the murder of 31-year-old bus driver, Ryan McKenzie, who was shot on the compound of the Rhode Hall High School in Orange Bay, Hanover, northwest of here.

McKenzie had just driven onto the school compound to pick students, when he was shot, several times, by two men travelling on a motorcycle. The shooting sent students and teachers scampering.

Law enforcement officials are also probing the murders of mechanic, Raymond Buckeridge, 37, who was shot and killed by unknown assailants, on Tuesday, as well as 29-year-old sales representative, Damion Orlando Brown.

In the other murder, police have not yet identified the man, who was shot in St. Andrew North, early on Wednesday.
