Thirty-Seven Venezuelan Nationals Held In Anti-Crime Operation In Trinidad

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad and Tobago, March 11, 2020 (CMC) – The police have launched an investigation, following an incident, in which 37 Venezuelan nationals were held in the town of Cedros, to the south west of here, late yesterday.

According to police reports, the Venezuelans were held by officers of the South Western Division Task Force (SWDTF), during an anti-crime exercise.

The police say that acting on information received, officers of the SWDTF, Emergency Response Patrol and Cedros Police Station went to the area, where they stopped and searched five vehicles, suspected of transporting foreign nationals, who are in the country, illegally.

The search resulted in finding the 37 Venezuelans – 11 males, 12 females and 14 minors.

Eight Trinidadian nationals, from the South and Central Divisions, were also arrested, in connection with the incident.
