Gunmen In St. Kitts Force Hospital Staff To Scamper

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts CMC – Police were searching for two gunmen, who fired several shots at a man in the main hospital, forcing several staff workers to flee for their lives on Monday night.

Police have confirmed that the gunmen had entered the Accident and Emergency department at the JFN Hospital, shooting 19-year old Kaheel Herbert, who was reported to be undergoing surgery overnight.

Police Commissioner, CG Walwyn, confirmed that Herbert was alive, but Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ian Queeley, said that several people, including staff were traumatized and were treated for shock.

Police are appealing to anyone with information about the incident to contact them.

“We, as a community, must be willing to report what we see, we cannot afford to keep quiet.  We must be safe wherever we go. Information [is] needed to get these two guys off the streets.  They are a danger to society.  Do not protect them,” Commissioner Walwyn urged the population.
