Police Officer Charged With Alleged Theft Of Panties

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad and Tobago, October 31, 2018 (CMC) – A 48-year-old police officer is due to return to court, in January next year, after he was released on TT$200,000 bail, on a charge of stealing six panties from the US-owned PriceSmart in Chaguanas, south of here.

Sergeant Rauff Hosein, 48, pleaded not guilty to the charge of larceny when he appeared before Magistrate Adrian Darmanie in the Chaguanas, yesterday.

The court heard that the theft allegedly occurred, last Friday, and that the six panties were valued at TT$107.95.

The police officer, who has more than 25 years service, will return to court, on January 28, next year.

Police were called to the business place after an employee allegedly saw Hosein pick up the items, placed them in his pants pocket and walked out of the store, without paying.

He was confronted by security officers and was later arrested, by two of his colleagues, and charged.
