Woman Who Stole Day-Old Baby Sentenced To Hard Labour In Prison in Jamaica

KINGSTON, Jamaica October 4, 2019 (CMC) – A 28-year-old woman, who pleaded guilty to stealing a day-old baby, named Sae’Breon, from the Victoria Jubilee hospital, here, has been sentenced to prison for three years and four months with hard labour.

Peta Gay French, was sentenced, yesterday, when she appeared in the Home Circuit court.

The police report that on January 9, the mother of Sae’Breon, Suzzett Whyte, reported that her child was abducted when she went to use the bathroom, shortly after 4:00am (local time), that day.

French was later arrested, when she tried to register the infant at the Registrar General’s Department, in the central parish of St. Catherine.

The baby was returned to his parents, after a DNA test confirmed his identity.
