Black And Caribbean Book Exposition For Toronto

TORONTO, Ontario – A Different Booklist, Toronto’s oldest, existing Black/Caribbean-owned book store, will be staging The Black Book Affair, bringing together Canadian literary talent with a Caribbean focus.

The event will highlight new authors alongside some of Canada’s most renowned Afro-Caribbean writers. Among many others, Toronto’s Poet Laureate George Elliot Clarke will be in attendance along with Jael Ealey Richardson, author of a memoir about life as the daughter of former CFL quarterback, Chuck Ealey.

The two-day event — Friday, November 22 and Saturday, November 23 — will also feature an awards ceremony, book launches, workshops, children’s book party, author discussions, a surprise guest, and so much more.

According to Itah Sadu, co-owner of A Different Booklist, the event will be “an enriching experience, ideal for educators, book lovers, and families”.

On the Friday, the Book Affair runs from 7PM to 9PM and on Saturday, from 10.30AM to 7PM. The awards portion of the event, called “My People Awards”, will take place on the Saturday, from 7PM to 9PM. Tickets to the Book Affair on the Friday and Saturday are $5.00 each; while tickets to the My People Awards portion of the event cost $20.00 each and are still available.

The Black Book Affair will be held at 918 Bathurst Street in Toronto. For more information contact A Different Booklist at (416) 538-0889 or info@adifferentbooklist.com.
