ROSEAU, Dominica CMC – Vernon Lorden Shaw, 83, who served as Dominica’s fifth head of state, died Monday at the Princess Margaret Hospital.
A brief statement on the state-owned DBS radio said that Shaw, a career public servant who also served as cabinet secretary, died following a “battle with illness”.
He retired from the public service in 1990 and served as head of state from 1998-2003.
The radio station said that further details, including funeral arrangements of the former Trinity College, Oxford graduate, would be given later.
