ST. JOHN’S, Antigua, Apr. 11, (CMC) – The Chief Executive Officer of the financially troubled regional airline, LIAT, David Evans, has resigned, well-placed sources said toay.

The sources told the Caribbean Media Corporation (CMC) that Evans, who joined the airline in April 2014, submitted his letter of resignation following a “stormy board of directors meeting “in Barbados, last Thursday.

LIAT Communication’s Manager, Desmond Browne, would neither confirm nor deny the report, telling CMC “the company will issue a statement in due course”.

Efforts to contact Evans, a British national with more than 35 years experience in senior roles within the aviation industry, proved futile.

Evans assumed the chief executive responsibilities from Mrs. Julie Reifer-Jones, who had been Acting CEO since the resignation of Captain Ian Brunton in September 2013.

The airline is owned by the governments of Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
