Kidnappers In Guyana Reduce Ransom Demands

GEORGETOWN, Guyana CMC – Guyana police were continuing their search Monday for a 40-year-old businessman, allegedly kidnapped by two men on Saturday.

The kidnappers of Rajendra “Sunil” Singh, from East Coast Demerara are reported to be demanding a GUY$25 million (One Guyana dollar = US$0.001 cents) ransom, having earlier demands of GUY$50 million.

The police in a statement said they were continuing their investigation into the kidnapping that occurred on Saturday evening, but media reports said that the businessman’s wife had been contacted by the kidnappers demanding the payment of the ransom.

Singh was reportedly snatched in front of his business place and bundled into his motor car which was later found abandoned.
