Jamaica Police Release Photos Of Men On The Run

KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC – Jamaica police are searching for several persons, many of whom on charges of murder, who staged a jail break over the past few hours.

The authorities have since released the photos of seven men who escaped from the Savanna-la-Mar police lockup, in the western parish of Westmoreland between late Thursday and early Friday.

The police’s Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) had earlier reported that eight men escaped the lock-up, but subsequent reports indicate that only seven men are on the run.

The authorities said that the men escaped by digging a hole in the ventilation area in the roof of the building.

Shortly after an alarm was raised one of them was recaptured on a property close to the police station.

The other men including murder suspects remain on the run.

Police have named the seven men on the run as 21-year-old Romaine Esson, otherwise called ‘Skenko’, charged with murder and shooting with intent;  21-year-old Odane Brown, otherwise called ‘Fee Fee’, of West End, Negril in Westmoreland, who is charged with shooting with intent and robbery with aggravation;  26-year-old Alton Maxwell who was facing charges of murder, illegal possession of firearm and escaping police custody, and 26-year-old Junior James, otherwise called ‘Bryan’, who is charged with murder.

The authorities said they were also searching for 20-year-old Ricardo Kerr, otherwise called ‘Jawbone’, charged with robbery with aggravation and shooting with intent, as well as 33-year-old Steve Vassell, otherwise called ‘Strength’, charged with murder.

The other person being sought is 18-year-old Bushay Grayson, otherwise called ‘Coolie Man’, who is facing robbery charges.

The authorities said they were warning the public that these men are considered dangerous, and the police should be contacted immediately if anyone knows their whereabouts.

“Additionally, citizens are being reminded that it is a criminal offence to harbour fugitives.”
