ROSEAU, Dominica CMC – The Dominica government says, it is giving “very favourable consideration” to the construction of three hotels in the northern town of Portsmouth.

While he did not name the hotels to be built, Skerrit said, “You know that the government has signed an agreement for 160 rooms close to the Belle Hall area,” a reference to the Cabrits Resort Kempinski that is being built by Dubai-based Range Development, and is expected to be completed by 2018. It is being built under the Citizenship by Investment Program.

“We will be commencing the project very soon, and how are we going to prepare ourselves to supply the meat and the agricultural produce, the seasonings to these hotels? We have to prepare ourselves for, not only construction jobs but also taking advantage of the opportunities in agriculture.”

Skerrit said, that his government is committed to providing financial assistance to farmers, adding “we will hold your hands and assist you with some financial resources to be able to invest on the farms, so that you can realize your dream, your ambition”.
