P.A.C.E. (Canada) Features Vintage Fashion Show At June 5th Strawberry Social

TORONTO, ON – P.A.C.E Canada announced that the annual Strawberry Social is being held this Sunday, June 5th at the Pearson Convention Center. Highlights of the luncheon include a Vintage Fashion Show, entertainment by Jay Douglas & The All Stars, with special guests Robert Burke and Thando Hyman.

Each year P.A.C.E. Canada organizes this special luncheon to raise funds for its many projects in support of Early Childhood Education.

The mission of P.A.C.E. (Canada) is the promotion of early childhood education with a special focus on children of pre-school age in situations of racial, cultural or economic disadvantage. As such, their goal is to be responsive, mobilizing and supporting community efforts to provide a positive learning environment for young children by facilitating parent and teacher education and providing practical forms of assistance for the learning context.

P.A.C.E. (Canada) was founded in 1987 when Jamaican-born educator Dr. Mavis Burke founded the organization in response to a request from then Prime Minister of Jamaica, the Most Hon. Edward Seaga. The group’s focus has since expanded to include the well being of children in Canada. The launch of the Adopt-a-School Program revolutionized assistance to basic schools / early childhood institutions in Jamaica. For CDN$1 per day ($365 per year), Canadian patrons adopt a school of their own choosing or if they prefer, a school is selected for them.

“The Strawberry Social is one of our premiere events of the year, and our members always look forward to an afternoon filled with fun and surprises,” said Sandra Whiting, President, P.A.C.E. Canada. “This year we have planned some extra special activities that will make for a fun-filled afternoon.”

Curated by Eve English of English Vintage Couture, this year’s Strawberry Social will feature a collection of vintage designer fashions. Eve is renowned for her spectacular eye and ability to source fabulous sought-after pieces.

The tradition continues with the Parade of Hats. See the lovely ladies parade their stunning hats worn for the event. Feather Your World’s Llieana George will be back showcasing her stunning hats. They will be available for rental so that guests can participate in the Parade.

The event will be held at the Pearson Convention Center, 2638 Steeles Avenue East, Brampton, ON, L6T 4L7. Doors open at Noon and lunch will be served at 1 P.M.

Proceeds from ticket sales, donations, and silent auctions enables P.A.C.E. Canada to provide a variety of programs that support Early Childhood Education in Jamaica and here in Canada.
